It’s that time of the year when reflection is upon us. Sometimes it’s fun — my husband just posted his Spotify Wrapped songs from 2025. (No surprise; it’s all bands from the sixties and seventies.) Sometimes it’s not: time to start gathering documentation for paying taxes in 2026.
It turned out my 2025 was a busy year. Working as an editor is not just gratifying, but fun. This year I got to experience magical battles, fast and furious cars, a show biz legend, the London Blitz, cults, murders, mysteries, Yucatan archaeology, and much more.
Looking ahead, I know I’ll be back to some of these places — a big thank you to my established editing clients, and here’s hoping they stay on the bestseller lists — and look forward to new experiences with new clients (for instance, in the works is a Persian cookbook). I also was asked to make presentations to writers and editors a record number of times for me, both in person and via Zoom.
If you’re working on your next (or first!) novel (novella, short story, memoir, or nonfiction book), I hope we’ll get to explore all of those stimulating places and times together in 2026!
